Maxum has built its reputation by delivering affordable, well-styled
boats to an increasingly budget-minded public. The Maxum 3100 SCR fits
into this mold nicely, a stern-drive cruiser with a conventional
mid-cabin interior, and a very competitive price. Shes built on a solid
fiberglass, modified-V hull with moderate beam and reverse chines to
dampen spray. Below deck, privacy curtains separate both the forward
sleeping berth and the mid-cabin area from the main cabin. Between them
is the salon with its semi-circular lounge/dinette (which converts to a
double berth) to starboard, an enclosed head with a sink and shower, and
a full galley to port with abundant storage areas. There are six opening
ports for ventilation, and the absence of any interior bulkheads makes
for a very large, open floor plan. The cockpit has a doublewide helm
seat, an L-shaped lounge opposite, and U-shaped seating aft,
complimented by a sink and cooler space. An opening windshield provides
access to the foredeck with its twin sun pads. This is a very capable,
if not exciting, family cruiser. Sunshine is powered by twin,
Mercruiser 5.7, engines, and Bravo III outdrives with less than 80
-hours, that will cruise this vessel at 22-23 knots and reach a top
speed of 30+ knots. Our 3100 SCR has many options, some of which include
an automatic anchor windlass, reverse cycle heat and air conditioning, a
generator, and a wonderful electronics package. This boat is spotless,
in great condition, covered slip-kept, and has bottom paint. This is
definitely a Must See for the serious cruiser/weekender buyer.
